Speaker Berri says blacklisting Hezbollah compromises EU, Lebanon- sources

       
Lebanese deputies quoted Speaker Nabih Berri as saying during Wednesday's parliamentary meeting that the European Union's decision to blacklist Hezbollah's military wing compromises the EU itself and Lebanon, noting that it primarily serves Israel.           

Speaker Berri was also quoted as saying that there are constitutional mechanisms allowing the extension of the mandate of Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Jean Kahwagi, adding that tireless efforts are being exerted in order to form a new government.            

On a separate note, Berri expressed that his nomination for MP Saad Hariri as Prime Minister derived from good intentions. His comments came following an interview published in a Lebanese daily whereby he called on Hariri to return and run for PM instead of all the other suggested candidates who are not able to handle the current situation.
