Former PM Hariri: Hezbollah weapons caused emergence of other illegal arms

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri gave on Friday a live speech during a Future Movement Iftar Banquet in which he said that there are "Lebanese factions drifting Lebanon into chaos", adding that rockets launched at the Presidential Palace are considered as "a terrorist message aiming at toppling the Baabda Declaration."

He also held Hezbollah responsible for the growing tensions, and for granting itself the right to take crucial decisions while turning a blind eye on the Lebanese people's stances.

MP Hariri said that he looks forwards to the day when relationships with all Lebanese parties are "honest" and  where sectarianism do not prevail over legitimacy.

He also recalled Hezbollah's stance pertaining to the assassination of late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, adding that Hezbollah attempted to foment sectarian tensions while March 14 was holding "a national day."

Former PM Harir noted that Hezbollah took an unilateral decision to participate in July 2006 war, adding that the same party did not have "responsible stance" over the assassination of march 14 figures.

He also noted that tensions in Lebanon are not a direct result of the crisis taking place in Syria, adding that they are an accumulation of policies that weakened the Lebanese state.

MP Hariri undermined the possibility of protecting the Lebanese state amid the presence of illegal weapons in all Lebanese regions without exceptions.

He also reiterated commitment to hold dialogue with all Lebanese leaders to spare Lebanon sectarian tensions, stressing that his party never carried weapons or boycotted dialogue.

Former PM Hariri slammed the argument stating that Lebanon needs the Resistance's weapons , saying "that such statements have lost their validity."

He also said that Hezbollah's weapons  became a mean of pressure, adding that they caused the emergence of other illegal arms.

He concluded by slamming Hezbollah's military involvement in the Syrian crisis, saying that the party "is killing the Syrian people."
