President Sleiman tasks LAF to take measures over rocket attacks on Hermel

President Michel Sleiman voiced on Monday his concerns over the shelling on the Bekaa region of Hermel over the span of the weekend.

He tasked the Lebanese Armed Forces Command to find out the location from where the rockets were launched in order to act accordingly.

President Sleiman noted that Lebanon will address such attempts to create tensions in the country, urging the concerned authorities to take all necessary measures to protect stability and civil peace.

Five rockets launched on Sunday from the Syrian side landed on the outskirts of the Bekaa town of Hermel, a Hezbollah stronghold.

Two rockets landed in an area located between the Mabarrat teaching association and the Masharii al-Qaa, without causing any casualties.

Hermel and other areas of eastern Lebanon, a stronghold of Hezbollah, have been the target of several rocket attacks launched from Syria in recent months.
