Lebanon bound to implement Arab sanctions on Syria, Nahhas confirms

Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas confirmed on Wednesday that “Lebanon is committed to the implementation of the Arab sanctions against Syria even though it had voted against them.”

Nahhas told AFP that “Lebanon will halt economic and financial dealings with the Syrian government and the Syrian Central Bank,” adding that the imposed sanctions only ban dealing with the Syrian government and not the Syrian private sector.

“Lebanese banks will not deal with the Syrian Central Bank; and no other side would”, he confirmed.
