MEA pilots still on strike, MEA flights go uninterrupted

The head of the pilots’ union Fadi Khalil told LBCI TV station that the strikes will continue until their demands are met, adding that the strike did not cause Beirut airport to close down and some flights are still carried out. Khalil said that meetings and contacts with politicians are maintained, hoping that the efforts exerted will amount to an appropriate solution to solve the problem.  

Middle East Airlines employees staged a protest Thursday morning before the management’s building in protest against the pilots’ strike. MEA announced that, in light of the ongoing “illegal” strike and in order to maintain services to multiple destinations, the flights to the following destinations will go uninterrupted: Doha, Amman, Cairo and Erbil. The company also said that hat MEA passengers boarding their flights during the strike will see uninterrupted service, whether on an MEA aircraft or that of another company.  

MEA carried out four flights, to Paris, London and Baghdad Thursday morning and nineteen flights boarding around 2,400 passengers on Wednesday from and to Rafic Hariri International Airport.
