Meeting between Rai and Siniora in Bkerke, joined by Gemayel

Former PM Fouad Siniora said on Thursday that the Middle East is witnessing a transition towards greater democracy, creating a positive change in the region and Lebanon.

Following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai, Siniora said that they discussed relations between the Lebanese people, particularly the unanimous decision-making through the Taif agreement. In this regard, he refused any amendments to this agreement for the time being.

“When the time comes for this change, it should be agreed upon by all parties of the Lebanese society; only then would it be appropriate for the suggestion of any amendment to this agreement”, he said.

During the meeting attended by the Kataeb party leader Amin Gemayel, Rai expressed his satisfaction as to the STL funding decision, hoping that achievements such as this one continue.
