Lebanese delegation arrives to Indonesia to follow up on boat disaster

The official Lebanese delegation arrived on Thursday afternoon to Jakarta under the chairmanship of caretaker Minister Ahmad Karami in order to follow up on the Indonesian boat disaster.

This comes after the Chargé d'affaires at the Lebanese embassy in Indonesia, Joanna Azzi said that 43 bodies were retrieved from the sea, adding that the search for additional bodies is still underway.

Azzi's comments came during a phone call with Nharkom Said TV show during which she asserted that the deportation of the Lebanese survivors of the Indonesian boat disaster is awaiting the arrival of the Lebanese delegation to Indonesia.

The boat, which was estimated to be carrying between 80 and 120 Middle Eastern illegal immigrants, sank on Friday in seas off Indonesia's main island of Java.

It was headed for Australia's Christmas Island.
