French embassy in Beirut commemorates 30th anniversary of explosion that killed 58 French paratroopers

The French Embassy in Beirut commemorated Wednesday the 30th anniversary of the explosion, known as the “Drakkar” attack that killed 58 French paratroopers in Lebanon in 1983.

French Deputy Alain Marceau, representing French citizens residing outside France participated in the event.

On 23 October 1983, bombs exploded in Beirut, on targeting the US Marine barracks killing 241 US service members, and the other targeting the nine-story 'Drakkar' building used by the French troops, killing 58 French paratroopers.
