Arab Democratic Party to LBCI: We are committed to state institutions

The media official of the Arab Democratic Party Abdul Latif Saleh said on Thursday that the party adheres to state institutions.

Saleh made his comments during a phone call with Nharkom Said TV show, in which he said that the Alawite sect is being targeted by the recent clashes taking place in Tripoli.

He also noted that the party is protecting Tripoli's residents and is not partaking in the battles, adding that they trust the Lebanese Armed Forces efforts in this regard.

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.

But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
