MP Nadim Gemayel says Hezbollah's actions aim to sow sedition

      
MP Michel Faraoun stressed on Tuesday that officials will take measures and will follow up on the standoff that took place at the Saint Joseph University in Huvelin neighborhood in Beirut on Monday.        

He called on the University's administration to resolve the issue; urging Lebanese deputies not to downplay the case.           

"They are undermining the history of Beirut as well as the cultural atmosphere of the University," MP Faraoun said during a press conference for the Free Decision bloc; adding that everyone should respect USJ's history.         

For his part, MP Nadim Gemayel lashed out at Monday's incident, noting that students belonging to Hezbollah have a "known" history at USJ.       

"If the judiciary and the security forces do not take procedures regarding the incident, it will be totally unacceptable," MP Gemayel said.         

He also noted that "Hezbollah's actions aim to sow sedition," adding that "those who want to join universities located in specific areas, should be fully committed to their laws".          

In turn, MP Serge Tor Sarkisian stated that the said university is not similar to Syria's al-Qusayr battle, noting that problems should be settled inside the university without the intervention of people from outside.

On Monday, Coordinator Central Committee of the Kataeb Party MP Sami Gemayel explained that the Kataeb students at Saint Joseph University, Huvelin Street, are subject to provocations through slogans praising Habib Chartouni written on the university’s walls.

Gemayel added that the USJ’s events are a new phase in the series of the ongoing provocations carried out by Hezbollah against the Lebanese people.
