Gunfire targets 3 citizens in Lebanon's Tripoli

Citizen Fadi Malahiya dubbed "Abu Wadih" was wounded by sniper fire on Wednesday evening in Tripoli's Syria Street.

Also in Tripoli, unknown assailants opened fire at citizen Ali al-Ali from Jabal Mohsen in the region of al-Zahiriyah, injuring him in his leg.

The Lebanese Armed Forces arrived to the scene and transferred the wounded to the hospital.

This as, Alawite citizen Mohammad Hassan Mama was also a target for gunfire in the city's Syria Street.

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.

But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
