Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Forces called on Lebanon’s president Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam to form a cabinet that constitutes of impartial members as soon as possible following their convictions.

He also asked from all the parties to assume their responsibilities in this concern.

“We will not participate in any cabinet unless its aim is to improve the country's situation,” Geagea said in a dinner on Friday.

He also described the situation in the northern city of Tripoli as a “moving tragedy”, noting that the solution is by disarming the entire city from weapons, "despite the fact that some political parties want to maintain the presence of armed groups."

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.

But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.

Disputes from neighboring Syria's civil war frequently inflame sectarian grievances in Tripoli.

These clashes pit gunmen from both the mostly Sunni Bab Tabbaneh district and the Jabal Mohsen district which mostly comprises residents of Syrian President Bashar Assad's Alawite sect, a Shiite Islam offshoot.
