The meteorological department of the Civil Aviation Authority said on Sunday the weather is expected to be partly cloudy on Monday with cold northern winds causing further drop in temperatures.       

Today's weather is expected to be cloudy and rainy with scattered thunderstorms, a slight decrease in temperatures and snow as of 1500 meters above sea level.

Over the upcoming days, Lebanon is set to witness a stormy weather and heavy rainfall with chances of snow at low altitudes. The storm is expected to last a few days.        

In this regard, acting Internal Security Forces Head General Ibrahim Basbous has ordered the concerned authorities "to stay ready for a swift intervention by using all the available means to help citizens stuck in blocked roads".         

He also called for taking precautionary measures that aim to facilitate the traffic flow across the Lebanese territories and to prevent citizens from being exposed to danger, mainly those who live in remote mountainous areas.       

In turn, the Internal Security Forces' Directorate General called on drivers to drive carefully and to avoid mountainous roads, urging them to contact Security Forces on the 112 hotline if any problem occurs.       

For its part, the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute sent short text messages via cell phones, warning citizens of the expected weather.             

"Alexa storm will cause temperatures to drop as of Tuesday night," the Institute said, adding that "the weather will get increasingly cold with each passing day".
