Cabinet decides to lift VAT on diesel tank

The cabinet held on Wednesday a session in Baabda Palace headed by President Michel Sleiman to discuss the 2012 budget draft law. The cabinet decided to lift the VAT on the diesel tank. The session was preceded with a closed meeting between the president and the prime minister to discuss the overall situation and the latest developments.

Before the session, Deputy PM Samir Moqbel said that the first subject that will be raise is that of the diesel issue. Agriculture Minister Hussein El Hajj Hassan stressed that lifting the VAT on the diesel tank is the best way to subsidize this good.
