Army Command imposes strict measures on New Year’s Eve

For the occasion of the New Year's celebrations, the Army Command announced on Tuesday, that Lebanese Armed Forces units will be implementing security measures in various Lebanese regions, across places of worship and their surroundings, as well as main roads, shopping centers, public institutions and touristic facilities in order to maintain public safety and assure the well-being of citizens.

The Army Command added that in accordance with the decision issued by the Ministry of Defense on the 23rd of December 2013, licenses to carry weapons will be annulled on all Lebanese territories until further notice except licenses granted to ministers' bodyguards, deputies, current and former heads of parties, and heads of religious communities.

It is worth noting that the Army Command warned citizens not to shoot celebratory gunfire in order to preserve public safety and added that any person who violates this issue will be arrested and legally pursued.
