Le Figaro: Majed al-Majed gave valuable information before he died

Le Figaro French daily reported Tuesday that the Emir of al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades Majed al-Majed gave valuable information when he was arrested and before he died.

The daily noted that his statements included information about the cells that provide his group with financial support in order to implement attacks, pointing out that these leads have become in the possession of the US intelligence.

Al-Majed, a Saudi citizen, died on Saturday January 4 after he was detained in Lebanon late last month and had been held at a secret location. He was said to be in a critical health condition when he was arrested.

He was the purported commander of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades and one of the 85 most-wanted individuals in his native Saudi Arabia.

The US State Department designated the group a foreign terrorist organization in 2012, freezing any assets it holds in the United States and banning Americans from doing business with the group.
