Jumblatt slams attempts to tarnish Tripoli’s image

The head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt said that statements of condemnation are no longer enough to save the city of Tripoli from the deadly clashes and wars that are harming the political, economic and social situations.

In his weekly statement to al-Anbaa website, Jumblatt said that Tripoli includes St Maroun Street and al-Moutran Street as well as several monuments that prove coexistence between the city’s residents, stressing that the northern city is a heritage treasure threatened with extinction.

In this context, he stressed the need to ensure Tripoli’s interest by preserving what was left of the city’s diversity, after several educational institutions closed their branches there.

“Tripoli is being illustrated as if it was similar to the city of Kandahar in Afghanistan,” he said.
