Sleiman: Protecting Lebanon against terrorism requires formation of national unity cabinet

President Michel Sleiman said Thursday that the terrorist act that shook the town of Hermel is a new episode of a series of criminal attacks, which are implemented by those who are affected by Lebanon’s stability, noting that protecting the country against these acts requires solidarity among the leaders and the people, as it imposes the quick formation of a national unity cabinet capable of facing the challenges.

Sleiman also praised the efforts exerted by the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Internal Security Forces, calling on them to intensify their measures in order to reveal the perpetrators and refer them to the concerned authorities.

On another note, the president met with caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour and discussed the content of the report issued by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon regarding the compensations to be allocated to Lebanon for the damages caused by the oil spill left by the Israeli shelling during the 2006 war.

Separately, Sleiman met with caretaker State Minister Ali Qanso and tackled the current political and governmental developments.
