Sleiman hopes for speedy ministerial statement draft

President Michel Sleiman hoped Monday that the new cabinet would be able to draft the ministerial statement the soonest possible, in order to present it to the Parliament that will hold the confidence vote and kick off work to resolve constitutional pending issues.

Sleiman hoped that the efforts deployed to form the new government will continue in the upcoming stage, in a bid to improve Lebanon’s image and reach an agreement between the Lebanese parties.

On another note, the president met with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and discussed the ministry’s duties, concerning the regional and international meetings aiming at seeking support for Lebanon on several issues.

Separately, Sleiman received the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Qahwaji, who briefed him on the security situation and the measures taken to prevent terrorist acts.

In this regard, the president praised the efforts deployed by the army forces in unveiling several booby-trapped cars sent to carry out attacks across various regions in Lebanon.
