Army Command says numerous kidnapping attempts were thwarted
The Army Command - Orientation Directorate issued a statement on Thursday whereby it announced that car bomb attacks have significantly decreased as a result of intensive security measures undertaken by army units across the Lebanese regions.

The Army Command also stressed that security measures will remain extremely effective in order to monitor suspicious explosive-laden vehicles as well as persons involved in bomb attacks.

"This effort has led to the detention of the most wanted individuals and the detection of a number of car bombs," the statement said.

On another note, the Army Command noted that numerous kidnapping attempts were thwarted after army units cordoned off the kidnappers' whereabouts and threatened them.

Turning to Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli, clashes eased between the rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen as a result of the army's tight security measures.

"Clashes eased despite the continuous political and sectarian tension as well as personal disputes taking place on the backdrop of detentions," the statement added.
