Aoun: Defense Minister is the most credible source in Qaeda issue

Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said, following his bloc’s weekly meeting, that the head of Finance Committee MP Ibrahim Kanaan briefed him on the provisions issued against former PM Fouad Siniora.     

“We will see the legal results of these contraventions and we consider that the provisions issued against Siniora crown our efforts”, he said.      

On the infiltration of Al Qaeda members from Lebanon into Syria, Aoun said that Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn is the most credible source for he is the one following up on this issue.        

On Damascus’ blasts, Aoun said that they create destruction but do not change the regime. “After the first and second phases failed in Syria, some kicked off the third phase, the phase of terrorism”.        

On the wage adjustment decree, Aoun stressed that Labor Minister Charbel Nahas is the only one who brought the value of the law back, adding that the dispute revolves around the numbers’ estimations. “This law will not be returned”.      

On the other hand, Aoun said that he agrees with President Michel Sleiman on the appointments’ mechanism, but not on the appointments themselves. “The appointments will be carried out by names and there are specific standards and characteristics for the choice of these names”, he said.        

He added that the dispute on standards is normal; “however, it is important that the NO does not become systematic.          

On the issue of weapons, Aoun said that when the time comes, he will endorse Rai’s stance on weapons, adding “Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah sides with us”.
