Sheikh Qaouq stresses need to elect a new Lebanese president

Hezbollah Executive Council Deputy Chairman Sheikh Nabil Qaouq said on Sunday that the Lebanese people have an exceptional opportunity to elect a new president according to a national will.

“We strongly support the election of a new president and reject the extension of the current president’s mandate,” he noted, adding that the national interest, critical situation and the dangerous challenges impose the election of a president, who protects Lebanon’s identity and national role.

During a ceremony held by Hezbollah in the town of Majdel Zoun, Qaouq stressed that the sacrifices of the Lebanese Armed Forces within the Lebanese borders and the sacrifices of the Resistance outside the borders protected Lebanon and reached a national achievement.
