LU contract professors hold demonstration, call for permanent tenure at university

Contract professors at the Lebanese University staged on Tuesday afternoon a sit-in at the Riad el-Soleh Square, calling on the state to grant them full-time employment at the university.

Protesters hoisted banners that read: “Save the university from meltdown”.

The LU contract professors have been on a continuous sit-in, calling for permanent tenure at the university.

The professors said their movement will not end unless the parliament meets their demands, stressing that they will be taking escalatory measures.
