US official: Our position on Hezbollah has not changed

A State Department official stated on Friday that the US is reiterating its longstanding position that those who have influence with the Syrian regime need to use this influence to move the regime toward a negotiated political solution, and not encourage more bloodshed and the regime’s brutal campaign against its own people. “

The official noted that the US’ views on Hezbollah’s participation in the Syrian crisis have not changed, stressing that Hezbollah is violating its commitment to the Baabda Declaration and the Lebanese disassociation policy from the Syrian conflict.

“Our position on Hezbollah has not changed. Hezbollah is a designated foreign terrorist organization,” the official said.
