Mahfoud: Contractual instructors may not supervise official exams by themselves
Head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud stated on Monday that the Teachers Association will adhere to the movements of the Union Coordinating Committee, adding that contractual instructors at vocational and technical schools are not capable of supervising official exams by themselves.

In this regard, Mahfoud said that the only solution is passing the pay scale during Tuesday's session, stressing that he is against giving students certificates since this will weaken the educational level in Lebanon.

Earlier, contractual instructors at vocational and technical schools stated that they will participate in the supervision of official exams, stressing that their main concern is the benefit of students.

Meanwhile, General Educational Inspector, Faten Jomaa called on all teachers in public schools to assume their duties related to official exams, stressing that those who refrain from carrying out their duties will legally prosecuted.

Hanna Gharib, a member of the UCC stressed that the committee is unified and will boycott Lebanon's official exams until the approval of the wage scale, asking teachers to vote for boycotting the official exams.

The Union Coordinating Committee has been on a continuous sit-in calling on the authorities to pass the pay scale, which stipulates a wage hike.

The decision to revive movements came as a result of the failure of the Joint Parliamentary Committees to resolve the dispute on the Value Added Tax in a proposal aimed at securing the funds for the salary scale that was approved by former Prime Minister Najib Mikati's cabinet.
