Rai urges Muslim leaderships to decry violence

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai called for boosting equality in the assumption of responsibilities within the state, urging all officials not to seek after privileges for them or their sect. During Sunday’s sermon, Rai stressed that citizenship is based on the solidarity that aims at reinforcing one’s sense of belonging.

Rai said that the regime in Lebanon cannot remain devided between two political poles on the backdrop of sectarian differences.

Rai stressed that moderate Muslim leaderships should decry violence and explosions, adding that the presence of Christians in the Middle East is a testimony that Islam is living its true calling.
