In a statement to a radio station, Bou Saab ruled out reports stating that the security events come within the framework of a scenario aiming at appointing a security official as a president, noting that the case of the presidential elections is not related to the security incidents, “but needs a political consensus.”
“Aoun is currently capable of communicating with all the Lebanese factions,” he added.
On the issue of the series of ranks and salaries, the minister pointed out that balance between the expenditure and the revenues has been reached, stating however, that the only point of disagreement remains the 1% increase of the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate, or a 15% tax increase on the luxury products, a proposal presented by former PM Fouad Siniora.
