Change and Reform bloc MPs held on Tuesday their weekly meeting during which they tackled the latest local and regional developments.

Following the meeting, former Minister Salim Jreissati said on behalf of the bloc that that Lebanese state must cooperate with the Syrian authorities in terms of the Syrian refugees crisis in the country, calling for the establishment of a Lebanese-Syrian committee to tackle the issue of refugees.

On the Lebanese University dossier, Jreissati said that discussions must rise above the distribution of shares while maintaining the standards of appointing deans and full-time professors.

The Lebanese University contract professors are frequently staging sit-ins in order to urge the authorities to grant them full-time employment.

The professors vowed that they will not return to the university until they are granted permanent tenure, calling on PM Salam to approve a draft law pertaining to their situation.

On Monday, Ross Mountain, the U.N. resident and humanitarian coordinator in Lebanon said that the country is at risk of crumbling as a state under the burden of 1.1 million Syrian refugees and foreign donors must make good on pledges of support to help it survive the crisis.
