Patriarch Rai: The presidency is being assassinated

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai stressed Monday that Lebanon needs political and civil leaders capable of preserving the Lebanese entity.

“First we need a president, since a state cannot function without a president, just as a body cannot live without a head,” he said, pointing out that the Presidency of the Republic has been assassinated by the political officials.

In his holy sermon delivered during a mass held in Bekaa Kafra, the hometown of Saint Charbel, Patriarch Rai dedicated his prayers for the sake of Lebanon, urging the politicians to elect a new president as soon as possible in order to save the country from the current impasse.
