REPORT: Cabinet approves file of Lebanese University

The cabinet approved Thursday the file of the Lebanese University, including the full-time employment for the contract professors and the appointment of deans for the university’s faculties.

The Lebanese cabinet convened earlier at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

The appointment of deans at the Lebanese University and the file of LU contract professors topped the cabinet's agenda.

Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said, ahead of the session, that he will discuss the file of LU teachers and will get the approval on it before holding consultations over the Lebanese University Council.

"The Kataeb party has demands and doesn't want to disrupt the cabinet," Bou Saab said, noting that he will offer solutions during today's session.

On the sidelines of the session, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab and Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi held a closed meeting, where they agreed on appointing Jean Daoud, Jassem Ajaqa and Leila Bou Nassif as deans at the Lebanese University.
