Israel, ISIL appear to be in conflict but have same principles -Lebanon's FM
Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said the region is stuck in between the Islamic State (formerly known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant -ISIL) and Israel, who both "appear to be in conflict but have the same principles in reality".

The minister's statements were made on Monday at the opening of an emergency meeting for the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement.

"The conflict in Gaza is identical to the one in Iraq's Mosul and Lebanon's Arsal," Bassil said.

"Lebanon is urging the international community to stand by its side and is asking for an immediate assistance to provide the Lebanese army with weapons and end the 'occupation,'" the minister said in reference to the incursion by militants into Arsal.
