New Grand Mufti to be elected on Sunday

The election of a new Grand Mufti is set to take place on Sunday at 11 am at Dar al-Fatwa upon the invitation of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

In this regard, PM Salam, Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani and his successor will make statements in a live coverage of the electoral process.

Last Saturday, Prime Minister Tammam Salam urged the Higher Islamic Council to elect a new Grand Mufti on August 10, a decision that received the blessing of Grand Mufti Sheikh Qabbani.
