MP Michel Aoun breaks his arm, undergoes a small surgery

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun underwent on Sunday a “small surgery” after breaking his arm, his media office said on Sunday.

The statement did not give details on how the incident occurred.

Aoun, who heads the Change and Reform bloc, has frequently said that he would only run for the presidency if there was consensus on him.

Lebanon has been lunged in a presidential vacuum after President Michel Sleiman's six-year mandate expired in May.

Several blocs, including Aoun's lawmakers, have boycotted the parliamentary sessions aimed at electing a new president, causing a lack of quorum.
