MP Fatfat: Media campaign launched to hold March 14 responsible for former cabinet’s failure
Member of the Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat declared Wednesday that the former cabinet used to reject any measure to protect the northern border with Syria, adding that Lebanon has been coping with the results, as pro-March 8 media outlets have been holding March 14 responsible for the failure of the former government on the security level.

During a press conference held by March 14 forces at the Parliament, Fatfat stressed that “great hypocrisy lies in claiming that March 14 forces prevented the deployment of Lebanese Armed Forces troops along the northern border,” noting however, that March 14 forces, mainly the Future movement, were the ones that supported LAF deployment to protect Lebanon.

“Today, we reiterate our call on the concerned authorities to issue a decision to deploy army troops on the border, in cooperation with the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon,” he stated.

For his part, member of the Lebanese Forces bloc MP Antoine Zahra said that March 8 forces are still rejecting the deployment of army forces along the border, pointing out that one of the reasons behind this continuous rejection is the death of a Hezbollah fighter, who hails from a Akkar town, while fighting in Syria’s Qalamoun.
