LF leader Geagea says eradicating Islamic State is a duty
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Saturday that the Islamic State constitutes a "new and suspicious phenomenon" which has no links to Islam.

"The eradication of the IS is a duty that must be coupled with the elimination of reasons behind the rise of the group," Geagea said after the annual mass commemorating the 'Lebanese Resistance Martyrs' in Mehrab.

"The principles of democracy, freedom, pluralism as well as civil and humanitarian culture must be spread," he noted.

"The deadly clashes that erupted in Arsal have confirmed the veracity of the call to control the border with Syria," Geagea said, noting that the solution lies in supporting the state institutions.
