Abou Faour closes dispensary in Ain al-Remmaneh, issues warning to Our Lady of Lebanon Hospital

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour issued on Thursday a decision to close a charitable dispensary in the region of Ain al-Remmaneh and to annul the license granted to Mr. Youssef Dib al-Kawkabani which allowed him to invest in a public dispensary.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, a pharmacy inspection unit seized at the said dispensary counterfeit and expired medications, as well as medications that are usually distributed for free by the Health Ministry.

Accordingly, Minister Abou Faour referred the file to the Public Prosecution, calling for expanding the investigations into the case and to take the necessary legal measures, in a bid to prevent such violations from being repeated in the medical and pharmaceutical field.

On another note, the minister issued a warning to Our Lady of Lebanon Hospital, in Jounieh, upon receiving a complaint filed by a Lebanese Red Cross team, regarding the failure to admit a patient transported by an ambulance, even though a bed at the hospital was booked before the patient’s arrival.

“The patient was later admitted to the hospital following many calls,” sources reported.

In this context, Abou Faour noted that “this is the last warning to be issued to the aforementioned hospital,” stressing that should a similar incident reoccur, decisive measures will be taken against the establishment, including the annulment of the contract signed with the Health Ministry.

In turn, Our Lady of Lebanon Hospital responded to the warning issued by the minister, saying that the complaint filed by the Lebanese Red Cross team is “completely unlawful,” stressing that the hospital is keen on receiving all patients sent by the Health Ministry.
