The state-run National News Agency reported on Friday that the security at the Beirut International thwarted on Thursday two drug smuggling attempts.
The agency added that the Internal Security Forces inspection bureau at the airport thwarted within 15 minutes two attempts to smuggle Captagon pills by two Syrian nationals.
Security agents seized 38,900 pills weighing 6.750 kilograms.
The pills were hidden at the bottom of the double-bottomed luggage of the suspects.
The travelers were seeking to smuggle the pills into an Arab country.
They have since been referred to the anti-drug bureau for further investigations.
