Gunmen open fire at army post in Tripoli
Gunmen opened fire on Wednesday at an army post in the northern city of Tripoli's al-Omari street and threw a grenade on another post in Bab Tabbaneh.

The army responded to the sources of gunfire, while preliminary information stated that a soldier was injured in his leg.

The Lebanese army has become the target of attacks in the northern Lebanese city after implementing a security plan in the northern city which had witnessed several rounds of violence, killing hundreds of people.

Disputes from neighboring Syria's civil war frequently inflame sectarian grievances in Tripoli.

These clashes pit gunmen from both the mostly Sunni Bab Tabbaneh district and the Jabal Mohsen district which mostly comprises residents of Syrian President Bashar Assad's Alawite sect, a Shiite Islam offshoot.
