Suspect killed in army shootout in Lebanon's Tyre

A suspect was killed on Thursday in a shootout with the Lebanese Armed Forces in al-Bass region in the southern city of Tyre, the state-run National News Agency reported.

In the details, an army patrol was pursuing a vehicle with five passengers on board, the agency said, noting that the driver did not comply to the orders of the patrol to stop, triggering an exchange of fire.

35-year-old Fawzi Shahrour, who was on board the vehicle, was shot and succumbed to his wounds. His body was taken to Jabal Amel hospital.

The agency added that the army arrested the other four suspects.
