LAF unit arrests 4 men involved in shooting attacks against army

A Lebanese Armed Forces unit arrested on Thursday morning four Lebanese nationals for being involved in shooting attacks against the army.

The men who were detained in the Akkar town of al-Mhammara were identified as Khaled Mohammad al-Chamali, Mahmoud Hussein Moussa, Ahmad Faraj al-Chamali and Faraj Mohammad al-Chamali.

A rifle and a hand grenade were found in the possession of Khaled al-Chamali, in addition to light ammunition and military assets.

Last month, at least four army soldiers were killed and several others injured in an armed attack on a military vehicle in the Akkar area of al-Mhammara, which was followed by clashes with armed men “loyal to Sheikh Khaled Hoblos” and a failed attempt to abduct five soldiers.
