LAF unit arrests suspects in Beirut’s southern suburbs

The Lebanese army arrested on Friday a Lebanese and a Palestinian in a raid in Beirut's southern suburbs, the military command said in a communique.

The military institution said in a statement that “an army unit raided at dawn the houses of wanted suspects located on the airport road and nearby areas.”

It identified the Lebanese suspect as Hisham Monzer and the Palestinian arrestee as Hassan Azmour. They are both charged with opening fire in the region and carrying out disturbing activities.

The army unit seized weapons, ammunition, binoculars and military equipment during the raid. The detainees were referred to the concerned judicial authorities.

The army and security forces had been carrying out in recent months raids in different regions across Lebanon in search for wanted fugitives and suspected terrorists.
