Presidential election session postponed until 7 January
House Speaker Nabih Berri postponed on Wednesday the parliamentary session aimed at electing a new president until the 7th of January due to lack of quorum.

Following the session, Lebanese Forces MP Georges Adwan stated that the first step towards preserving the republic is manifested in the election of a president.

In this regard, MP Adwan called on Change and Reform Bloc leader MP Michel Aoun to reach an agreement with the LF in a bid to end the presidential deadlock.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum after former President Michel Sleiman's mandate ended on May 25 with rival political blocs still divided over a new leader.
