Change and Reform Bloc MP Alain Aoun said on Sunday that the political discord besetting Lebanon is more serious than before for it targets sensitive issues and affects the internal situation of the country, adding the Future Movement Bloc is waging what he describes as “the indictment battle”.
“Sensitive issues should not be dragged into the political debate between the opposition and the government”, Aoun said, adding these issues should be settled through a blunt forward dialogue
“The U.S. Time magazine interview with one of the four accused in the 2005 Hariri’s assassination aims at embarrassing the government”, adding the interview is neither in Hezbollah’s nor the government’s interest.
“The Time reporter Nicolas Blanford should be questioned on the interview so that we could settle the arising debate”, Aoun said, adding The Change and Reform Bloc has the right to object when the Cabinet does not adhere to its statement.
On the Syrian unrest, Aoun voiced hope that the Syrian people could soon witness the reform and change they aspire for; adding the governing approach in the Arab world should not remain the same.
