First Investigative Judge of Beirut, Ghassan Ouweidat kicked off Monday investigations into the case of embezzlement of public funds from Rafik Hariri University Hospital, whereby he listened to the testimonies of 10 witnesses.
In turn, lawyer Jamil Qambris, the attorney of the defendant the head of the hospital’s pharmacology department, presented formal defenses.
Accordingly, Judge Oueidat delayed the trial until April 23rd.
The hospital’s employees have been staging sit-ins and protests, calling on the administration to pay them their delayed salaries and grant them their rights.
