Ministry of Health inspectors closed on Thursday a cheese store south of Beirut over violations of food safety standards. The ministry announced in a statement that the store, which is reportedly located inside a motorbike repair shop, did not meet “the minimum health standards.” The statement identified the owner as Samer N.D., and said the shop was located in the Tiro neighborhood of Shoueifat. The step comes as part of a nationwide crackdown on food safety violations launched by Health Minister Wael Abou Faour in November.
