Seven oak trees chopped down in Akkar amid outrage, resentment

Seven oak trees were chopped down by unknown assailants in the Beit Ayyoub town, Akkar, sparking outrage and resentment among the town’s residents.

Environmentalists and residents of the region urged the concerned authorities and forest wardens to identify the assailants and punish them.

They also asked the ministries of environment and agriculture to fulfill their duties in terms of protecting forests in the northern Akkar district, noting that “those forests are considered as a natural, cultural and civilizational heritage”.
