Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour said on Thursday that the cost of filters for the Zouk Thermal Power Plant will amount to 100 million US dollars. He also noted that he will submit a request in this regard to the Cabinet. Last Saturday, citizens of Keserwan reopened the Zouk Mikael Highway after closing it for almost 30 minutes to demand the limiting of poisonous emissions from Zouk Thermal Power Plant. During their movement, protesters vowed to take escalatory measures if no serious movements were taken by concerned authorities to tackle the issue of the said power plant. Earlier, President of the Union of Municipalities of Keserwan Nouhad Nawfal urged the concerned authorities to resolve the issue of the Zouk Thermal Power Plant. For his part, MP Nematallah Abi Naser stressed that there are sufficient funds to resolve the issue. As for Kataeb MP Samy Gemayel, he emphasized that the issue of the said power plant is of major concern to all Lebanese citizens and especially those residing in the regions of Mount Lebanon.
