Minister of Environment Machnouq warns against forest fires due to Lebanon’s severe heat wave

Minister of Environment Mohammed Machnouq warned on Tuesday of forest fires due to the dramatic rise in temperatures and the severe heat wave hitting Lebanon.

He also tasked the concerned parties to take the necessary precautions to prevent any fires.

Lebanon witnesses every summer a series of fires due to the wave of heat that erupts in the country with the lack of specialized teams and equipment to fight them.

Last month, two firefighters died after battling a huge blaze that erupted in Beirut's Mar Elias, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The corporals of the Beirut Fire Department were identified as Mohammad al-Mawla and Adel Saadeh.
