Environment Minister Mashnouq: Waste will not be buried
Environment Minister Mohammad al-Mashnouq explained that the meeting held in Saifi tackled the need to ensure locations for the disposal of the country's waste until a solution is found for the crisis, stressing that “the garbage will not be buried.”

For his part, head of the Kataeb party, MP Sami Gemayel said that the environment minister must not be left alone to handle this issue, adding that delays over the discussion of this file until next week are shameful.

The meeting was attended by a delegation of heads of municipality unions of Mount Lebanon.

Lebanon has been plunged in a waste crisis since last week, when al-Naameh landfill closed and waste management company Sukleen stopped collecting garbage, leaving the streets of Beirut inundated with piles of rubbish.
