Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun stressed that "the army is Lebanon’s only hope in achieving glory," hoping that the military institution will preserve this role.
In this context, MP Aoun said that the country’s ruling majority is hindering the appointment of the military council and leadership, noting that the proposal pertaining to the election of a new president by the people aims at liberating this process from local and foreign influences.
“We will not give up on our demands, but there are urgent issues related to the people’s rights -including the promotion of military personnel- and we will not obstruct them,” he added.
On the relation with the Future Movement, Aoun said that “they have encountered a few hurdles because the Future Movement 'does not keep its promises,'” inviting former PM Saad Hariri to engage in a TV debate with him.
